Patricia Low presents "Flesh for Fantasy"
Patricia Low Contemporary is currently presenting "Flesh for Fantasy", Katherine Bernhardt’s first solo show in Switzerland. The exhibition runs through December 20 2006. Since we here at GstaadLife.com have never mastered the fine art of writing like an art critic, we’ll leave it to the professionals at ArtDaily.com:
Katherine Bernhardt’s paintings embody cosmopolitan edginess. Her lush canvases – which themselves pose as the currency of beguiling luxury – incorporate all the fantasy trappings of seduction, decadence and corruption, each charged with sordid soap operatic climax and the command of true-to-type bitches and divas. Looming larger than life, Bernhardt’s demoiselles flaunt exaggerated tales of womanly wiles: a tribe of Amazonian it-girls, goddesses, and super-heroines languishing in the ennui of money, power, and style.
Got it? Patricia Low Contemporary is located in Gstaad on the Lauenenstrasse at the intersection of the Wispilenstrasse up to the Grand Hotel Park. To view the works and see photos of the installation, click here.
