Cowbell thieves on the loose
You know the world is going to hell in a hand basket when thieves have to resort to stealing cowbells. During the last few days, various cowbells were reported missing in the communes of Saanen and Lauenen and in the canton of Vaud. The cantonal police is asking anyone with any information regarding these thefts to call 112 or 117 or to report any suspicions or observations to the police in Gstaad at 033 744 78 11. The thefts are believed to have occurred during the night between November 2 and 3. The bells were taken from their normal hanging places or from storage, and it is thought that the thieves must have used some kind of delivery truck to shift the heavy objects. This latest incident is part of what seems like a rising tide of petty thievery and vandalism that police seem unable to stem, including the continuous theft of the goats in the Saanen roundabout and the destruction of trash cans and street lighting on the Palacestrasse during the recent summer season.
